    Dang eBay!

I just realized that you can only search back 15 days in the completed auctions to see what things have sold for in the past (to determine value of household items and such)!! It used to be 90 days, and then 30, and now you have to pay for the service to go beyond 15 days.

Those are spoof/spam emails. They direct you to a site that looks exactly like ebay but is not ebay (if you look at the url); they try to harvest peoples financial info from them. IdJUTS!

YES!!!! its a scam!!! DO NOT log into paypal from their site or they will have access to your bank account!!!!! IF you did log in to check, you need to call your bank immediately....... seriously. I checked the URL too (thats how you can tell, by the way) and didnt log in because of it but I forwarded it to to paypal and they wrote me back telling me it was fraudulent and directing me to contact my bank if I had entered my password on this fake site. (I hadnt)
They said they were in the process of disabling accounts it was attached to.

Even when I know I've bought something on Ebay and am getting the bill in my paypal account. I always log into ebay by myself--not clicking on anyone's URL--to ensure I'm in the correct site.

I was a seller on ebay since feb of 98. I am still registered and still doing alot of buying. little selling. I have several thousand transactions so i would call myself an expert.

Ebay does not spam. Never log in to ebay or Paypal, which i joined when they started, it was Deutsch bank then, from an email. always log in at the direct URL.
Paypal will CALL you on the phone if a security issue comes up. they have excellent customer service. Yes, i know ebay owns paypal sadly now, that is why paypal now nickel and dimes merchant accounts to death but they are very professional in handling issues.

It is more dangerous to issue a PAPER check or leave a CC reciept in a gas station than to do an online transaction. The integrity of your system, even for a small merchant like myself, who basically had the 800 number and all the customer CC info in my Home Office is essential. I kept CC info for a period on the server in a secure area and shredded docs once a paper transaction was done. the penalties for and honest merchant account playing with your info are high. I took no chances of any kind. The security online was excellent and i paid a high cost for it. Without it you were open to all sorts of law suits and other issues. If I was cautious I can tell you the paypal and ebay are secure.

Oh I agree totally, they are secure sites, these we are referring to are actually fake spyware type sites that they make look so real that people who know ebay and paypal are secure, are apt to fall for. Just always check the url line and you will be able to tell if its a fake or not, and avoid links directing you there.

Yeah, Bellsouth knocks alot of those types off now before they enter your email. Oddly, I just bought my Maytag water filters for the fridge while perusing back and forth here. I have set sellers for the most part now.

I'm more a buyer than a seller. But when I've sold, I've sold big.

ebay nickel and dimes merchants to death, now they go after bidders, sad. My Attorney told me that ALOT of his clients went from profitable sellers to cash churners on ebay and had to file BK. Prices went to low, long story.

Used to be able to access an invoice from day 1, not anymore.
