    Great Landlord!

Boy oh boy, do we have super landlord. From the recent storms in Northeast Ohio, there was a crab-apple tree in our backyard that was damn near torn to shreds from all of the severe weather. I cut down the torn up apple tree and I also had to replace the guts of both toilets because the toilets were constantly filling and the toilets would sometimes overfill causing water to drip on the floor. Anyways, my wife called the homeowner about needing to have the tree stump removed for the safety of the children, and when she told him about what happened to the tree and about the toilets, the homeowner was very grateful that I had done that for him and he took $200 off our rent for this month. Oh yeah, someone will be out this week to grind the stump.

I wasn’t expecting our landlord to take money off our rent. I was shocked when my wife told me about him knocking $200 off our rent…….it cost me barely anything to do it. Although, it would have cost him a lot more to hire a tree service to cut the tree down and have a plumber replace the toilet guts. Besides, I used to have my own home before so I have a chainsaw and a chipper/shedder and I've replaced plenty of toilet guts……..so…….I figured why not do it. I love doing handyman stuff anyways.

There is also some additional good that came from it. The duplex next to us is own by an older woman who lives on the one side and rents the other side and when she heard about what I'm capable of, she asked if she could use me for minor repairs and maintenance and she would pay me. Of course I told her that I have no problems fixing things like a leaky faucet, running toilet, replacing a garbage disposal and things like that, but if it's something major, she should seek the expertise of a professional.

Thats great, yes, nice things to happen to all of us........ Sounds like you have an excellent landlord thats AWARE he has an excellent tenant........ GREAT COMPBINATION...

I have a neighbor (homeowner also) who is a jack of all trades.... He has saved me so much money over the last 10 years helping me with household problems.... He can do carpentery, plumbing, electric, landscaping and auto work..... I always ASK HIM FIRST if he wants to do the work (I pay him well) since he's always been soooooo good about doing things and does it the right way...... If he can't do somethng he tells me who can do it for me.....

Sometimes he accepts payment, sometimes he doesn't.... sometimes I have to insist.

I am so thankful for this neighbor.

Also this may help boost your income a little just as it does my neighbors for the little extra things that he sometimes wants to purchase...

    We help each other....

Oh yeah, let's not forget to mention that great feeling you have for helping someone. To be honest, the money is not all that important either. I like helping others when they need it. So many have done what they could to help us through the past year, and it feels nice to offer that in return.

We are so happy that the homeowner/landlord is such a wonderful gentleman. I only wish that there were more people on this earth who were as nice. It would surely be a better world to live in.

        Amen to that........

This mans wife said anytime I needed his help to call him...... they are really good people.....
The day they auctioned my house off he was there..... and his wife said he come back home with tears in his eyes and told her I had lost my house in the auction.... Said he really felt bad about it. And they were absolutely thrilled when I managed to buy it back from the people that bought it.....

Yes, there are some really great people in this world, kind, sensitive and giving. I am fortunate enough to have a whole street of neighbors like that in "my ball park"....... and I'm truely blessed by them all.......

PS.... one of my neighbors 5 houses away seen these old bones high upon a ladder painting a porch ceiling at the roof eves and coming running....... yelling...... "get down from there before you hurt yourself"..... Next thing I knew him and his son was painting my porch.... He blessed me out for being on that ladder!!! He told me his charge for doing it was "cold lemonade" and a "chance to sit on my porch some hot summer night"......

Its really bad when you have neighbors that you can't live with.......
