A good one to put on ignore

I didn't see his post until you quoted it, but since he has little information of value for me, I don't have to bother with Fedler.

      The ability to show a property for rent goes like this;

Less than 24 hour notice, Landlord must call and ask "if" and "when" is agreeable to tenant. Tenant doesn't want showings less than 24 hours, there right to say "NO".

24 or greater landlord can schedule any time within reason. This is a tenants home, and needs to be respected as such.

Personally, letting them show less than 24 hours sets a bad precedent, don't do it.

No seriously...it's freakin me out that you're in Ohio.........that's where my dads family is from......

Minny~ What JMan said...you ARE an inspiration..... I've totally enjoyed reading your posts!!!!!
CAB_44, my parents are back in Boston, MA. We live out here in Ohio. I haven't borrowed any money from him in years and years. The last time I did it was to borrow some money for a downpayment on our first house. I practically had to get down on my knees and beg him.

I have steeled myself to never be that way with my children. I want them to be self-sufficient and responsible, but if they ever get in a jam I want them to be able to come to me and I will help them financially and otherwise any way I can!!

          Yes Jman30~
Me either.....(to be that way with my kiddos)
My kids know that if they need something....they don't have to be afraid to ask....
My mother was adopted to a family in Randolph Mass.....He was a Dr.~ lovely man.....the wife was kind of a well...i'll be nice.....tough cookie......
she meant well, but I really felt that she only adopted my mom because she needed a nanny....
My dad could be such a jerk....he was military~ I always attribute that to his lack of niceness.........
          my Mom is a sweetheart~
I have been contemplating today on wether or not to send her a letter about my woes.........hhhmmmmmm.......still need to ponder on that one.....

Ain't no such law in IN. Landlords rule here and Tenants have virtually no rights.

A Landlord here can literally walk in without any notice. No knock, no Hello, just use their key and walk right in.

Those rules vary from State to State. Landlord/Tenant Laws that is.

SF I can't believe this is true. No statue on entry notification. I had to look it up after reading your post. When happens if landlord walks in late at night and scared tenant shoots him. Who holds the responsibility. I can't believe this state operates likes that.

                I dunno Olive.

But Landlords can just walk in.

Last place we rented, the Landlord did just that. She used her key one afternoon and just waltzed right in. No knock. No hello. No nothing. Scared my Mom half to death.

                I was PO'd. With a capital P!!

I was gonna march over to her place and give her a piece of my mind, but thought I oughta check the laws first. Sure enough, she was within her rights. At least how the law reads. I could not believe it.

So I called a Landlord/Tenant Law attny to check. For sure! That's the way the law reads and can be enforced. The attny said, generally, Landlords do give notice, but do not have to. They are within their rights to just walk in any time they want to. He said unfortunately, there was not a thing we could do about her behavior.

SO....what was the landlord reasoning for just walking in..... to "chti -chat"?? That is not right!! I would have the chain on the door when I was at home. (at least buys you a few mins of privacy) Also, what is to stop them from comming in when you arn't home? and all of a sudden things show up missing??
Here in IL we have better renters rights. Even in our lease, it states they will call and give notice, unless it is an emergency. In fact had to call our landlord Friday night. I got up in the middle of the night o use the washrrom and our floor was wet, the upstairs water heater went. We are able to shut off the water so we did and I had to our landlord at 3:30am. They came over and cleaned it up, he sat upstairs banging on her door for 15 mins (I heard him knocking the whole time...lol) before he finally went in. ( she wasn't home anyways, she's in the process of moving out) Even so, he gave her able warning before entering. We have cool landlords, Thank god!!!
