  • Yes, there is life after this forum also...BK is a life event resulting in many changes, good and bad. It's what you learn from how you got there, the journey through the process and what you do after it is all complete that will put you where you want to be. Good support and sources are extremely...

  • Eight Years Since Chapter 13 Discharge...Yes, There Is Life After a Chapter 13....

Many of you may remember me as I am a former moderator on here and long-term forum member. I haven't been on here in a few years and thought I'd stop in to see what's going on...it was nice to see a few familiar IDs still around.

To be brief for those of you that do not know me or remember

replied to old bankruptcy still on report
My credit reports did also at the time and after 7 years passed from the date of our filing date in April 2002 (Chapter 13), we obtained our credit reports in May 2009 and all BK information was gone. In fact, the next issue for us was not having enough credit as prior good accounts not included in...

You need to speak to your attorney about this because in order to modify your mortgage or make any large credit change or purchase during a Chapter 13, you need Trustee permission. Call your attorney who will go over this with you and advise if it is at all possible in your situation as your plan would...

Get an appointment with your attorney and sit down and go over everything. You will probably be advised to get another job, if possible, as soon as possible. If you cannot, as indicated above, you may need to consider converting to a Chapter 7. Best of luck to you.

We were advised during our Plan that even if we lost our jobs, we still had to make those plan payments; get an appointment with your attorney and sit down and go over this because if you cannot get another job in a reasonable period of time, your entire Plan will have to be modified or you will have...

replied to TD Auto Finance question
TD Auto Finance is the former Chrysler credit program. My current car loan is with them. As with any car loan, as soon as your payment is not received by the due date, a notice is sent or a phone call made that the payment is late (friendly reminder). So this car loan can be a few days late to several...

You need to speak with your Chapter 13 attorney about this right away as you have decreased income to fund your plan. It would be a shame at this point so far into your plan to have to dismiss or convert but your attorney can guide you best on what to do.

  • Do you claim your son as a dependent on your taxes and does he live with you? In order for him to be on your health insurance, he has to be a dependent of yours and in order to claim him as a dependent, you need to provide more than 50% of his support and he has to live with you 6 months out of the...

  • You had to sign something to request this card and receive a copy of what you signed - did you read it at all? Probably somewhere in there you gave them permission to run your credit. Remember, a lender doesn't have to approve you if they feel you are a risk in any way. You probably will receive...

  • Target I understand is BK friendly. As indicated above, you may have prior bad credit PRIOR to your BK which is still showing and which will stay on for 7 years if those companies were not in your BK. If in your Bk, you need to clean up your credit reports. Note that sometimes a recent BK showing...

    replied to Dental Insurance
Note that most dental insurance policies only cover maybe 50% of major dental, including orthodontics. The best thing your friend could do is to check with the orthodontist that is being considered to do the work and see what insurance plans he/she accepts and what he/she recommends. All it takes...

replied to Medical Bills in Chapter 13
Any bills incurred after your Plan is confirmed are your own responsibility and you have to pay them the best you can. The only other thing is as you were advised above and you can speak to your attorney but remember to file motions or modify your plan, your attorney is going to charge you extra -...

replied to Credit Report (Chapter 13)
What will happen when your Bk is removed 7 years after your filing date from your credit report is that you will find yourself with very little credit history - all and any past good credit will probably be gone and all your Bk accounts will be removed. Remaining will be anything you were able to open...

replied to Credit Report (Chapter 13)
Trustees do not report to the credit bureaus - the reason I mention in my posting above to ensure you make all your Plan payments on time is that if one may want to look into refinancing or getting a mortgage, that is a factor that is taken into consideration and may be a requirement. In fact, for...

replied to Credit Report (Chapter 13)
Your credit score will slowly increase while you are in Chapter 13 provided you make all your Plan payments on time and any other bill payments (i.e., phone, utilities, etc.). Do not be late with anything at all. In fact, pay any bill as far in advance as possible but pay on time and in full. ...

Pull your credit reports about 3 months after your discharge. Things will be more settled by then and you will see much different things than you are seeing now and then go from there...

  • eBay is not what it used to be and unless one is looking for vintage or collectible items, it is usually cheaper to get the item online with free shipping and/or other discounts or purchase locally. I have had an eBay account since 1997 or so and over the past few years, have maybe logged in there...

Sounds like the sheriff is taking a break on taxpayer time! :-) Or there is drug or other activity in your area/neighborhood and he is on watch. I agree with the others - go ask! I certainly would if I saw a police vehicle sitting in one area near my house multiple times....

Your BK will not erase bad credit you had prior to you filing. So if any of these accounts were late or charged off prior to the date you filed BK, that information will remain, probably for 7 years.
