  • Received letter from Oregon Foreclosure Avoidance Program

I received a letter dated "April 2016", from the Oregon DOJ stating that my lender (Wells Fargo) has identified me as being in danger of losing my home to foreclosure. Due to hardships over the winter, I am behind in my payments. I owe March, April and (as of today) May's payment of $1,125....

Little over a year since discharge

It's been a little over a year since our discharge, but less than a year since the Trustee finally closed our case. So, I still feel like it all just happened.

The cat in my avatar showed up in our yard again last night, haven't seen him around since last summer. He made me think of this...

  • DH got offers for car loans just after Ch 7 filing. I didn't. More accounts were in my name when the you-know-what hit the fan. The mortgage is my name too, didn't reaffirm, don't know if that had anything to do with it. A year later now, we just received a Capital One card for DH, $500 credit, no annual...

  • Thanks Cat! Yes, I think it happened that way for a reason too. The seller guy was chatty with DH. He told him one time he was buying an apartment building and didn't want to wait around for the loan, so his friend gave him the $134,000 cash. DH said, yea, I don't have those kind of friends. ...

  • Well, the guy doesn't want to deal with us on the car, so that's that. He said to DH, "don't you have someone who will give you $10,000 cash?" People are hilarious.

Just in case anyone wants to attempt to purchase from a private seller with RoadLoans, here are the requirements...

  • Thanks everyone. Yes, it's a private seller. We told him the process -- there's an inspection too. I didn't notice the part about him turning over the title until after we talked to him, though. He will be in direct contact with the bank from the beginning and he will send the title to the title company...

  • Okay, thanks so much hub. I just didn't want to think I was asking for something weird/unusual from this guy. Last time I bought a car it was in 2001 from the dealer and financed there, so this is different for me. It's a really good price on this car and we'll have to drive about 100 mi to see it,...

  • RoadLoans requires seller to send original title

I'm trying to purchase a car from a private seller and was approved by RoadLoans. It's a bit of a process and I understand why. So far the seller seems to be okay with us and this process. I noticed in my emailed instructions this note:

"In order to complete this loan process the...

Capital One credit card after 1 yr

Well, husband got one, not me. He's been getting offers like crazy since discharge. His income is very low, so I didn't bother applying. I tried to get the Barclays card after 6 mo, since I have the main income and no go. I haven't gotten any offers in the mail still after a yr. We answered the Capital...

  • My house was built in 1941, not flat roof, but does look and sound a little like yours. I didn't reaffirm based on information found here. The box was checked on my petition. My lawyer asked, you want to keep your house, right? I said yes (honest). After 341, my lawyer said we can sit down and talk...

Yes, just as Frogger and Hub said, it will be a while. I filed BK 7, turned out to have small amount of assets after 341. It was 7 months from the time I paid before close was filed.

    replied to Credit Card question....again
I'm 6 mos discharged, tried Barclay's but didn't get it. I applied for the Frontier Airlines one. I used a site that rated which CCs were more difficult to get and which were easier. It seemed that this one would be one of the easier ones from Barclay's to get. Maybe one of the other Barclay's CC would...

  • Thanks everyone. I guess I've just been lucky with my other houses and have never had a problem.

We've been here almost 7 yrs now, and the neighborhood has changed. The original owners of many of these old homes have moved on, so now there are younger first home owner, hipsters, from...

  • Home Insurance Co requiring new roof

Just got a letter from my home insurance company saying they recently reviewed my property. I have no idea when or to what extent. It said:
"Your home's roof has moss, shows areas aged shingles...Please replace your roof.
Siding has peeling paint. Please paint the siding.
