NICE! I just started mine, 55 months to go for me lol. It was a learning experience that will continue to help me, financially. I look at every little expense, and I've learned to save $ by not over spending. I will open up a credit card account when this is all over, but it will be used to pay...

    Visualizing The End Helps!

Just today I was Visualizing the end of my 5 year plan, I'm already 6 months in pretty much, so let's call it 4 1/2 years.

At the end, hopefully I'll have my same job, had it since 2007, and it will be awesome to get it done with. If everything stays the same, I'll be making $23hr + Commission...

Your best bet is time, wait awhile before filing, wait until you find a great attorney and have the $$$ to retain him/her. Adversary Proceedings are rare, but it's doesn't help if you took out a large loan and 2 months later filed for bankruptcy. Or let's say you took a loan out and purchased gold watches...

I'm in a Chapter 13, and can only save between $100-500 per month depending on how my month at work was, commission etc. You WILL find out very quickly how much money you spend on flat out bull crap. Example, I used to spend $350 per month on Beer, yeah, Beer! Now I just buy a bottle of Evan Williams...

I was served papers and filed for Chapter 13 a week later, I waited until then to get the "fire started" lol. You have plenty of time, just make sure you retain an Attorney that has great reviews, look that Attorney up, check out reviews etc.

Best of luck to you, I know the...

  • Thank you Carmella! Yeah it is a rough road right now but it's doable. One of my coworkers is 47 years old and he has only $36,000 to his name, I don't want to be that old and have that little. Granted, he is quite happy, and is married, dual income etc, but still that is chump change and would last...

  • Good advice for Investing, and Saving for Retirement? Any advice?

I ask this because I know just the basics, bare bones, growing up nobody was there to actually teach me how to be with money and how to make it really work for later years. I've always had the mentality of "You Only Live Once", and that flat out got me into financial hell, here I am 4 months...

Thank you! I checked my email this morning and it is a confirmation hearing she said. She also said that I might not have to go to court once her and the attorney submit the stipulated order confirming the plan.

But I'm pretty sure I would have to go, right? Or can the attorney go on...

    Status Hearing?

My lawyer sent me a letter saying I have a "Chapter 13 Status Hearing" I'm guessing that is the confirmation hearing? Sorry to post this, I was just wondering what it is, I emailed the paralegal and she didn't get back to me yet, just wondering etc....

  • Thanks, yeah I have to contact them last time was 3 weeks ago and Paralegal said once the Attorney is done with the confirmation they'll send it to me to sign etc. I'm guessing the Holidays slowed everything down lol....

  • Hello, last word from my attorney's paralegal was they are almost done with the stipulated confirmation I believe she called it. I'm not on a 100% plan, don't know the % exactly, I need to ask, at the end of the day I'm pretty much just paying off my secured debt (vehicle) and trustee/attorney fees....

  • Thanks guys, yeah it will raise over time so that's good.

More interested in saving up money, just don't know how much the Trustee looks into your tax filings. Say I make $65,000 this year, would I be in the clear? I made $59,000 in 2018.
