Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like my friend did the right thing to disclose this information about their case and potential big pay out.
Boris Becker comes to mind when people want to play games with BK....

Job market seems to be awful out there. I am applying now and running into blanks.
Thankfully, I have a teaching degree.
And it looks like I will need to polish that off soon in order to generate income....

Congrats.
I know a lot of people here indicate that it is not easy to get through a chapter 13....

Why are most creditors a no show in BK cases?
Does anyone have insight on this.
Thanks.

Yes, absolutely.
She is hoping the settlement was pass the 2 year wait, of course.
Transparency is key in these situations....

The 2 year wait during a chapter 7.
Hello all,
I have a friend who just got her OK on a chapter 7 after her court conference call.
Her attorney said she will have to wait 60 days for the official discharge.
She also was told that any money she gets outside of the BK 7 needs to be reported for up...

My guess is if there is a mental or physical disability?
Its terrible that they took away that option for those that file without circumstances because the job market is quite abusive....

From what I understand, these student loans cannot be discharged.
Any other thoughts on this?...

Thanks for your reply.
I am current, so no worries. I will probably just pay it this month, as it is affordable and my interest rate is 3.25%, not bad....

Chapter 7 and Mortgage
Hello,
I was wondering if you file chapter 7, how long can you go without paying your mortgage.
I am current on my mortgage, but running low in cash due to a health issue.
Thank you.

NY State has to be one of the worst states to file in, I guess. Darn it.
I will look into it more.
What is the "best" state to file a 7 or a 13?...

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, that is why I was leaning on NOT filing.
I figure once I get back to work, I can just pull the equity out and pay them....

Man, I just read your story. I am in my late 40s and starting to really fret over retirement, because my options seem to be dwindling a bit with age. I just finished up my MBA from a Big Ten school, so the network is strong. I plan to use it for a long time. Also, I have a MS in teaching, and can pull...

Well, I have about 20K in CC debt and about 20K in IRS debt from 2015-2017. I am not employed due to health issues for the last seven months, so I would qualify for the chapter 7. The only asset I have is a house with about 150k equity.
Thanks.

Well, the guy above you said following Dave Ramsey is BAD.
I agree with him.
Ramsey is just trying to make his money off of other people's problems....

Question
What is a reasonable amount of debt for a person to file for chapter 7?
Thanks.

Hello
Hello all,
Thank you for having me on this forum.
I am considering a chapter 7, but not sure if it is worth it.
