  • No I not only want to get my credit back but I obviously feel that I owe them at least something. I don’t believe in free lunches and although I will be paying them back a fraction of my debt at least I can say I settled my debts. It’s a psychologically satisfying feeling I’m sure....

  • Because it’s not a status that I want to live in forever. It’s a means to an end. I’d rather settle for 25% and start rebuilding my credit than hoard my cash and live with a 500 score for 7 years...

  • So after doing more research I’ve 100% decided to settle my own debt for 15-25%
The reason I’m so confident about those numbers is because I found out that I am “judgment proof”
I live in PA which means no wage garnishment, I own no assets, and I’m putting all my money into a...

  • So I randomly looked through my credit report today and found that my total debt is not as high as I thought
    Credit Cards- 187k
    Personal Loans- 30k
Back Taxes- 57k of which 12k is priority

its not night and day better but I thought I was around 310k in debt, and that’s...

  • I’m glad you were able to get a much better payment confirmed.
Yes, I understand that asking for a narrow estimate is probably asking a lot but in the same respect if these lawyers deal with the same trustees and judges every single day every single week then I don’t think it’s an outrageous...

  • I’ve spoken with 4. Two of them sounded legit and two sounded like they were ambulance chasers. I’m going to connect with the one lawyer who told me to maximize all my contributions and allowed expenses to minimize my disposable income. He wanted $500 to run my numbers but didn’t say specifically...

  • I don’t have any secured debt besides my car and I’m current on that.
I was in debt management before and it was working but then I had to start paying 1100 a month on back taxes and that’s when things fell apart. I’m about 90-120 delinquent on my credit cards and personal loans at this...

  • 15k of the 60k in back taxes is priority but yes it’s definitely influencing my numbers.
I don’t need an exact number but I do need to know if it’s going to be above 2500. I can’t move. Even if the IRS thinks my rent is too expensive that’s not the reality of the area where I live....

  • That’s just my base salary
I do get a bonus every February which is why I was going to wait until September to file.
I agree that 3600 is insane. I owe around 310k in debt and back taxes so he said 60% plan was what I was looking at. I was under the impression that most chapter 13 plans...

  • Thank you for sharing that.

I am currently going through a lot of anxiety at the moment due to the fact that I had mentally prepared myself for a certain payment range and now I’m thinking that might not be possible based on some new research and a conversation with my attorney. ...

  • Thank you so much for your response.
My 401k contributions will be consistent for about 8-9 months prior to filing. I would assume that would not count as “just before”
I am going to touch base with a few more lawyers to gage their thoughts on this but I was just hoping to get some...

  • I think ChatGPT lied to me

    Hello everyone
I’ve been researching chapter 13 for a while and unfortunately I’ve been using ChatGPT for most of my information.

I make around 190k a year, have around 300k in debt and was planning on filing for bankruptcy in a few months.

    What I’ve been doing...
