Question about vehicles -what do I get to keep?

First off I am married but I am filing singly. We have 3 cars between us. A 2005 minivan in which my husband is the only one on the title (oh and the bank!), a 96 civic with a salvage title -we are both on the title. And a 72 MG Midget -not sure if I am on the title or not, we have to dig it out of the safe. If I am on the MG title with my husband what happens? My father in law filed ch7 singly and they had a 01 cadillac in mother in laws name only, which they did right before filing -oops. If i remember right, they told her IF they took the cadillac half of the money would go back to her.

Anyone know about this? If I am not on the title then no problem. The MG is not in very good shape and doesn't run that well. It is not a show car. So I don't think they would want it anyway. But I just want to check everything out. I still want to do this pro se, but I do have an appointment with an attorney next week which i may have to hire.

    Penny,...........

Even if you do file Pro Se,.......... I'd suggest you Consult with several attnys. You'll want to get several points of view about your case. Maybe all the attny will see it the same way. Maybe there will be several different approaches you could take. AND, you'll learn a lot that could potentially help you as well.

About the vehicles,.......... First thing you need to do is read your State's Statute about your vehicle Exemption. Some States wording is specific of ONE vehicle. Some States, doesn't matter how many vehicles you have as long as you have enough Exemption to cover the vehicles. Some States specify 1 vehicle per licensed driver in the Household. Since you're filing solo, that would be you and any kids you're claiming that can drive.

I have heard that a salvage Title does substantially ding the value of a vehicle. You may not be able to get appropriate valuation info from websites like Kelly Blue Book or Edmunds.com. You might have to get a Dealer's written statement about the value of the Civic.

The MG,........... I didn't locate any valuations for it other than people selling cars on eBay. Nothing at KBB or Edmunds.com. Seems going rate runs around $2K if the car runs and is in decent shape. They are quite a collectible with a following of enthusiasts interested in them.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.
