I just checked my FICO Score. It is pretty crappy. Filed in 12/04. Discharged in 6/05. On my report it states on all of the CC that from Jan of 05 to july of 05 that those are all 90 days past due, and they are showing negatively on my report. What should i do with these? and would it be worth it to clear them up. There is about 5 cards.
Thanks.

Hi Raptor!
Just wanted to let you know I moved your thread here. Based on your Q, you're more likely to get appropriate responses in the Credit Rebuilding Section of the Forum.
From looking at our Credit Reports, it seems that the Lates will show for 5 years. I'm not sure how to proceed to get them deleted, if you can.
Others posting here are very saavy about addressing Credit Reporting issues. Hopefully they will chime in and tell how they went about getting items corrected.
First question, were the accounts past due when you filed BK?

All accounts were paid to date. I took the advice from my financial advisor, and my father whom is very financially stable. I was working for MCI and in September of 01 I lost my job due to layoff. Soon thereafter the company tanked. The trade that I was in was based solely on telecommunication networking. Fiber testing..etc. It isn't a field that you can really use in the real world when looking for a job. The telecom industry really went down during this time. I took a job at my hometown with a 75% cut in pay. While working for MCI I used my CC's regularly and paid them off monthly. I was on top of the world..age of 23 with no debt. A high paying job, and I really took it for granted. On 09-13-01 I got a call from my boss in Richardson texas. Said that I was finished..so there i was in L.A. California. a 2600/mo rent on an apt. with a yr lease. (mind you I was only 3 months into the lease). I had to buy out of the lease and move back to Kansas..Started the other job, and the high limit CC's were too easy to use to cover bills...Just was paying the minimums every month..at that rate it would of taken me 11.5 years to get out of CC debt. So I guess the BK was a wise choice...It came out of the blue, and all accts were paid...but I am going to file against the big three and try to get this resolved...has any of you every tried to get these type of things cleared..or am i Just stuck for 5 more yrs?
Yes, you should be able to get these negative entries cleared...if, at the date you filed BK, you had no late payments, then these credits cards are reporting your credit history inaccurately; so you will want to dispute the account entries with each of the 3 credit reporting agencies (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion). All the agencies have websites with information and instructions on how to go about disputing inaccurate entries on your credit report. Note, even though they have instructions to dispute accounts through their websites, use traditional mail instead.
You should anticipate anywhere from 45 to 90 days to resolve these matters.
