Can I have your opinion please?

Dh just went to the attorney's office with a check and all of our paperwork for filing a Chapter 7.Will today be considered our filing date(we don't have a formal appt. with him,dh is dropping everything he requested off)We did have an initial meeting with him this past Sept..It took weeks to gather all the info and make copies etc You should see the pile. What do you think the timeline will be at this point? Will today be our filing date? When can I check out Pacer?I've only heard about Pacer from this board so i'm not sure how to go about that...
    Thank you

Depending on your atty's case load, I would say you should be filed within the next 7-10 business days. If I recall, the petition and documents are date sensative. That said, you should not be checking PACER until you've receive the notice of BK filing in the mail from the court (it will have your filing date). Even then, you won't see much happen with your case until after your 341 hearing.
    Bankruptcy History:
    Chapter 7 filed - 10/12/2005 - Asset
    Discharged - 02/16/2006
    Case Closed - 11/08/2007

Depends on the court. Mine is only 3 weeks from when the lawyer finally filed.

Did you just submit the docs the attny wanted and pay your fees?? Or did you actually submit a signed and dated BK Petition??

If you just gave them the docs on the check list and paid your fees, then it'll probably be about 10 business days before your Petition is prepped. Your attny's office should call for you to come review the completed petition. Look it over to errors and ommissions. When it's accurate, you'll sign the petition then.
