We filed ch 7. Discharged our house and equity loan that we had with CountryWide Home Loans thru the bk. It was filed on Aug 29, 05 and discharged on Dec 29, 05. Back in June, we got a statement for the equity account that showed a zero due balance. Now, for the past 3 months, we are getting a statement for the same account that has a past-due dollar amount.
Back in Aug 06, our house went up for sheriff's auction~Countrywide is the only one who put a bid on it and so they purchased it. It was right after this that the statements starting coming in.
We have sent them copies of both the June statement showing a zero balance plus a copy of the current statement with a dollar amount past due. Plus we sent a copy of our discharged bk and them listed. Also sent a letter to them stating that we knew they were illegally trying to collect on a debt that was discharged on our bankruptcy and they were to stop sending the statements or we would contact an attorney for the harrassment. We sent this signature required. They received it on October 17. The next statement was printed and sent out AFTER October 31.
What do we do? We got a free credit report over the summer months and this was before they started trying to collect, so we don't even know how this is being reported now.
