AMISLANDER 11-09-2006, 10:28 AM ...I applied about two weeks ago...they needed better address verification, which I sent back in...and got the "Welcome to.." email...does this mean I get the card? Might it be in my mailbox that I only check once a week?
Can I put the downpayment on the car I need to buy when the bk trustee seizes my 4 Runner (just kidding!!!!!   )
I'll be basically following the pay in full when bill arrives mode, just like it was before I got divorced and got off the chain.
FilingOnMyOwn 11-09-2006, 03:32 PM Yeah you probably got it. Its the highest interest rate of any of the cards though, like 28% on mine. ANYONE who carries a balance on this card is just begging for another bk to happen.
CATCHMEIFYOUCAN 11-10-2006, 01:22 AM Hooters seems like a very popular cc to acquire after Bk, I just got finished with my 341 meeting and am now waiting out the 60 days to discharge. Do you think it wise I go ahead and apply for a cc or should I wait out the 60 days?
Thanks, Catchmeifyoucan

You're right! I got the card! It is high, 29% w/72 annual fee.....but...I will use it wisely and pay off any balance in full....and then switch to something else in a year...I have been without a credit card for FIVE years....so I totally understand the issue that I created for myself...
Do they charge me on the card for the annual fee?

Well, I was discharged in February and waited until now....Seriously, I go along with the thought, if cc's are what got you into debt, wait on the cards because, yes, you can rack up that debt incredibly fast....I'd wait at least six months....and, before I messed up...I had excellent credit, probably the BEST....20K on each card...so, even though I don't even know what my credit score is now...maybe it didnt' go down as much as I think it may have...waiting to find some FREE way to check it?

Technically, you are not supposed take on new debt while you're in BK. So you'd be best off to wait until you're discharged to get a CC.
BK'd-Betty 11-10-2006, 06:06 AM If you don't mind my asking - what is the limit on this new card?

AMISLANDER 11-10-2006, 06:22 AM ...$1,000.00 which is more than enough to me, at this time.....my cc debt was almost $60K.....
When I looked at my credit report, see...I had major credit with my xhusband, mortgage of $500K., $20K limits on cards etc...all my store cards, Macy's, Bloomies, Lord & Taylor were totally paid off...I just had maxed out Cap One, MBNA & Citibank....
BK'd-Betty 11-10-2006, 07:00 AM That is a very generous credit line - congrats and be careful! :)

But now, if I want to get my plane ticket to see my kids in AZ, I can buy it early, save some $!!! To rebuild credit & be able to buy a plane ticket or reserve a hotel room are about the only things I need a credit card for...God what a feeling!
I never received an email and my Hooters card arrived in the mail yesterday, one week after filling out the online application.
