Account was included in BK now reporting bad debt???

    Hi all.
Everything has been going well since my discharge in February.
I received a notice today that my fico dropped 77 points!

In the status column of my Bank Of America account, it was previously reported: Included in Bankruptcy. Newly reported: Bad Debt; Placed for collection.

In the description coulumn, it was previously reported: Bankruptcy Chapter 7
Account closed by credit grantor. Newly reported: Charge off account
    Account closed by credit grantor

Should I call Bank Of America about this or is this normal?
    Thanks All!

    No, its not normal.

But your recourse is to dispute the entry with the Credit Reporting Agencies. (Trans Union, Experian, and Equifax). There are several posts within this forum that explain how to do that.

What type of account was it?

In any event, it should continue to report the debt as Included in BK (that is, assuming you received a discharge, did you?)

This was for two Bank Of America credit card accounts.
I was discharged and closed 3/1/06.
My FICO rose nicely to 667 and now dropped to 590 with this information today.
Would it do any good to call Bank Of America?

Are you still a customer with B of A?

Regardless, there is a fairly formal process for disputing inaccurate credit report entries, and it starts with the Credit Reporting Agencies, not the creditor.

I just started monitoring my credit a few days ago, and guess what? The EXACT same thing happened to me today!!!

I got an alert from TrueCredit for both myself and my husband, and sure enough BOA updated both his account and mine as a bad debt, whereas yesterday it was IIB.

Not ony that, they reported his on my report and mine on his (as we were authorizied user's of each others account, but they were not joint accounts) and they had not done that previous.

BOA must have PMS today and decided to stick it to us BK'ers!

          LOL!

I don't thinking calling will get the job done. First dispute with the CRA, if they don't update, then you go to them.
