Thanks everybody for the help before. It's been a couple of weeks since I've been here and some things have changed for me. I was fortunate enough to get a promotion which increased my income by 10%. However, with that, my net monthly income after bills and living expenses is -$100 roughly. My pre March 7 yearly gross income was $31K, now $34K and my total debt is $52K ($41K CC, $6K student loans, $5K car loan). I don't own a home (rent-free situation actually) and only have my car and computer(charged on CC) worth noting. Both I want to keep. Also, after reading another post, I was reminded that I used my CC for about $350 in Xmas gifts. So a couple of questions. Am I still a BK candidate? Still 7? How long should I wait so the CC charges aren't held against me(only necessity charges since and fairly minimal)? I know this is very general but any input would be very much appreciated. Just when I thought my options were clear, the double-edged promotion muddled things because even though my income increased and would help toward considering a second job and simply paying the debt down over a few years, the new position is much more demanding in both time and energy so a second job is now virtually an impossibility.
Oh, one other question: I have 8 different CC creditors. Is there any potential harm to the BK process to contact them and see if I can get reductions in interest rates, inquire about a more reasonable repayment plan, etc to see if I can avoid BK altogether? I'd like to look into that but don't want to sound the alarms with them and cause myself headaches down the road. Thanks!
