Anyone familiar with the Pokemon card faze?

My 8 & 10 year old say they both want lots of Pokemon cards...what's the deal with the renewed fascination? Or did it never go away? My 10 year old was majorly into the Yugio cards for the past three years...is this the age of Pokemon??? How do I know what to get them? They have said nothing but LOTS!!!!

    Help?

My kids did Pokemon YEARS ago. They got into Yu-gi-oh later, early in High School. They're older teens now. Graduating HS and in College.

They sell packets of the cards called Booster Packs at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, convenience stores, gas stations, and such. They used to be approx $4/Booster Pack of 10, maybe 15 cards.

Wal-Mart has the packs on end caps and over in the Magazines section.

Sometimes you can find bins of old packs for cheap at Dept Stores. Those are generally older cards that have been discontinued.

    Also check Gaming stores.

And believe it or not, they sell the cards on eBay!!

There are Cards Magazines that you can get to tell you which cards are rare. Which cards go in which decks. How to build a deck. All kinds of info. Maybe start with a Card Magazine and work from there.

It can be real expensive to build a deck. Yu-Gi-Oh sells starter deck packs that you can add to. They might possibly do the same for Pokemon, but there again, we haven't been into this for a while.

My Son used to have TONS of cards. He was a serious player and collector. He bought card sleeves to keep his cards nice. He had books to keep them organized in. He used to go to a local Card Shop and trade or sell cards to get others. So check out local Card Shops as well.

Some time back, Son sold his collection for big buck to pay for college. He more than doubled his money when he sold out.
