They asked me to fill out a permission to run a background check. I think I am hired, pending that checking out ok.

Of course, they will see I am in a Ch. 13.

Will that disqualify me? It's for a department store.

I don't have any criminal convictions or anything like that. A few judgements...really bad credit, and this bankruptcy.

Anyone have any insight?

It shouldn't make any difference.

I doubt it, the background check is more than likely only for a criminal record check. And even if they find out about your BK, the BK probably won't matter.

Son works for Big Box Mart,............. aka Wal-Mart.

When they did his background check, they called Son's previous employer and ran a criminal check on him. After he passed those hurdles, they sent him for a Drug Test. As far as we know, a Credit Check was not run.

Unless you're president of accounts receivables there's no way a BK would affect a job at a department store.

For Wal-Mart I think it's almost a job requirement that you be broke. I worked there to pay for part of a college semester. One of the cashiers had a housewarming party at her single-wide trailer with her boyfriend and his two kids.
