    childrens bank accounts

As I am getting info together I am coming up with more questions! There is no reason for me to make a mention of my teenaged childrens bank accounts is there? I am not exactly sure of the totals off hand, if I had to make a guess I would say combined maybe $7000. My name is not on any of the accounts at all, so I do not have access to any of the money even if I wanted to. In fact their accounts are not even at the same bank as my account. They don't contibute to the household income and its for the most part not money they have earned in the past 6 months (except for perhaps $50 from grandparents for Christmas). Its just money saved from b-days, Christmas and money from summer jobs.

You will probably be alright since they are different banks (you do mean different banking institutions, not merely different branches of the same bank, correct?).

If the accounts were with a credit union, then you would have problems since credit unions cross collateralize everything.

However, the status of a "minor's" bank account is somewhat of a grey area in bankruptcy terms. Minors are not allowed to enter into legal contracts, so usually, some adult as to authorize the account. However, since you say the money in the accounts is attributable to the minor's wages and usual gifts, I don't think you will have a problem.

Nevertheless, I would not list the accounts on your BK petition.
