My chapter has been discharged (filed myself without spouse) and is waiting closing. Still have a mortage on the home in both of our names. Can I transfer the title/ownership to my spouse before or after closing ?

Why would you do that in the first place? -
to keep a possible state tax lien from being put on our property if this can be done. The tax lien would be on me only.Comment

Is it a tax lien for State income tax, or state property tax? Also, why didn't you take care of the Tax issue in your BK, or did the tax debt arise after BK?Comment

It is sales tax from the business I owned.............was told by lawyer it would
not be elgible in my chapter 7...............happened before the filing.
I was audited in 2000 and presented a bill for uncollected tax on sales to some of my customers.............I was allowed to question the results with documentation proving some of the customers were nontaxable. I faxed the results to the tax commission in 2002 and never heard anything from the state tax commission. Then in 2004 I get a letter in the mail from them saying I owed $xx,xxx.xx. I contacted them and explained I had what I had done 2 years prior, they indicated there was no record of the information so they wanted me to provide the documentation again so I traveled 100 miles to their office, signed in presented the paperwork and they said we will get back to you in a couple of weeks.
Still to this day I have never heard from them...........reason I'm aware it still maybe alive is they responded to the trustee mailing about assets in my bankruptcy case and the total they listed is close to the amount from years ago.Comment
