I am currently in my 34th payment of a 42 month chapter 13 plan. After 36 months/payments I understand that I may be able to payoff the remanding payments/balance of original base amount, to end my plan early.
My question is that back when I started 34 months ago my base amount was $13200.00 base at 42 months. and now I look at my statement and it says $14500.00 base at my 34 that I have paid plus the "EST. PAYOFF LEFT" stated on statement of 13 months? 34 + 13 is 47 months??? How could it have changed? I had no activity or changes outside of making my regular payments that could have changed the amount. The only thing I could think of is that 2 times during my payment plan I paid a payment about 3 to 4 weeks late so in turn I sent 2 months payments to the trustee...one for previous missed month and one for the months coming in a few days. One other time I missed a payment and they let me divide the missed month into thirds and pay one third extra for the next three months to get it caught up. Other than that I have been out of sight and out of mind just plugging at making payments. Made 34 payments in the last 34 months.
