surrendered car in ch 7-today rec'd a letter

I filed for chpt 7 and had my trustee meeting today. I surrendered the car that was listed in the bankruptcy to the financial corp last week. I was current on the payment. I rec'd a letter from the fin. corp today notifying me that they were selling the vehicle. They noted that I would have to pay any difference between what I owed and what it sold for. Is this legal and can they actually try to make me pay the difference or is this letter a formality?
They are aware I filed and rec'd a letter sent from the courts as to my filing.

thank you for any info you can provide.

Also, what happens now that my meeting is over? If the trustee wanted any additional informaition, he would have asked me for that today? I filed pro se.

    Thank you.

Its probably a formality, but the deficiency balance should be included as an unsecured debt in your schedules. To be safe, amend your petition to list the deficiency balance in your schedule of unsecured creditors.
