    I am closing my hooters card! YAY!! (1050 Limit, no fees but 25%)

    I will then have: - All No Fees!
    WaMu (1500 limit 15.0%)
    ESPN (1500 limit 8.9%)
    Direct Merchants (2600 limit 15.7%)

    My dh:
    Has a fixed rate 30yr mortgage
    Capital One Blank Check Loan
    Juniper (No fees 2500 limit 8.9%)
    HSBC (no fees 950 limit 0%, then 8.9%)

    We filed joint 9/2005, discharged 1/2006.
    Filed 09/05
    Discarged 1/2/06
    Closed 1/13/06

    I think you're doing the right thing jeepmom. I don't care what anyone else says about how closing accounts hurts your credit score. Its all about not putting yourself in a position to get ripped off. And furthermore, about 6 months after I closed my hooters card, I re-applied out of boredom. They sent me a new card with 18% instead of 27%, and 3X the credit limit. I guess I'll keep this account for now.

    Pick and choose your accounts. It pays off.
