This is a silly question, but can you "save" money while in a BK 13? I know that all disposable income goes toward the plan but what I am talking about is saving for an unexpected expense such as car repair, home stuff, or any other items that normally would go on a credit card which of course I would no longer have. If something unexpected comes up during the plan, how is this viewed? Thanks.

Lots of people here scrimp a little from various areas of their budget. Maybe they don't spend as much on groceries in a month. Maybe they spent less for gas that month. Maybe the utilities bills came in lower than normal. Maybe there was no clothing expenses that month.
They set aside those monies to save back for smaller, unexpected expenses. Car repairs that come up. Minor house repairs that come up. Maybe a smaller, unexpected medical expense.
Some folks went to the Envelope System. Put the money for various expenses into envelopes every month. That way you can keep an eye on where your doing well or you're over spending.
If you have something big happen, contact your attny or the Trustee's office. You might be able to make some sort of arrangements on your Plan payments.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
