I elected to surrender my car under my ch7 filing. The court issued the creditor an order granting relief from stay several weeks ago. I would like to remove the tags from the vehicle and terminate the insurance on it, but I don't want to get into trouble with the state motor vechicles administration for not having tags/insurance. I've attempted to contact the creditor to request that they remove their car from my property, but I always get transferred to their bankruptcy department and no one answers. What can I do to get this car out of my name and off my property?

In a situation where a creditor isn't responsive to ones voluntary repo request. See if you can take your vehicle back to you purchased it, if this is possible, call the creditor and ask them what company they'd use to repo your car. If this method doesn't work. Contact your DMV and Insurance company and ask them what the appropriate protocol would be for this sort of sitatution that would prevent you from being liable for the vehicle. And most importantly send a certified letter to the creditor explaining the situation. Also, tell them they need to make arrangments to pick up the vehicle with XYZ days.
Good Luck! :)
