I have been working diligently to get my credit report cleaned up prior to discharge, and have been helping my husband clean his up too. Wow... this is tough work! Hard to believe we have this many accounts, but we do! Anyway, what many accounts are showing for TU and EX are:
Most are showing "Derogatory" for the "Condition", but some are showing "Closed (Paid)" instead, even though they have not been paid. Any ideas on this? Is it appropriate to show "Derogatory"?
Also, on many accounts there is an empty spot in the "Balance" section. Many show "0", only a couple (I'm working on) are showing balances. Is the empty spot okay? Or do I need to work to get them to show "0"?
What about the extra notes in the "Remarks" showing "Account has been closed...." or "Unpaid balance reported as a loss by credit grantor" or negative statements? Are they okay as long as they are accompanied with the fact that it was included in b/k?
And another... a lot of accounts "Pay Status" (I think they're all Experian) are showing "Collection/Chargeoff" but still showing in "Remarks" that they are included in bankruptcy. Is this okay or do they need corrected?
Also, 2-3 weeks ago I mailed in my request to correct items on my Equifax report. Does it take them a long time to get them corrected? It seems it only took a few days for Experian to update (on their ACTUAL credit report - not TrueCredit - it just shows "bankruptcy petition" - is this okay?) and TransUnion only took a couple of weeks. Of course, these were all done electronically. I TRIED to do it electronically through Equifax but they transferred me to another site who supposedly handled my zip code, but when I put my zip code in the other site they said it was Equifax who handled my zip code... so... I don't know. There are a TON of inaccuracies in Equifax's report, which, is who does the myfico.com so my FICO is HORRIBLE!!! (Well, it would be with everything corrected but it will at least HELP!). How can I get a status on my disputes?
Oh yeah, and one final... On one account I have disputed, it came back with the status: "[TransUnion] Collection Account - Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements."
I've had to send out a letter to re-dispute that one because I can't figure out how to do it electronically once a dispute was already done. Anyone know how?
Thanks so much for all of your help! I will appreciate any answers you may have for me!
