    Ancestry.com Post baaaaaack...

OK, well as we know the Forum has been in a funk lately with profiles and missing posts so here it is...

this site has yeilded a wealth of info on my family. Unreal what is online as far as the old censuses and when combined with my Aunts knowledge and names from my Grandmothers Bible I have pieced together a bit of history.

I have been very succesful with my Grandfather's (mothers father) lineage, the records are fairly good and it's been alot of hours.

I traced back through his fathers mothers line to John Tyson who settled in Accomack VA (the Tyson Chicken Enterprise is based there, same ancestry). He was John Mattice who along with his family were burned out of there homes along the Rhine about 1645, they fled south to the Netherlands and from there to Wales where I guess being out of their comfort zone they were enticed by some deal on land in the Tidewater district of Virginia. Down through John Tyson and Sussanika Andrews who produced Mathias Tyson whose family settled Bath NC. He died in the Tuscarora Indian War of 1710 and his wife and my gr-gr-gr and so on grandfather escaped to the forest and were rescued.

Along way down came me, seems like after messing with the Indians they never quite regained the place of the Virginia Planter side of the family which of course culminated in my 2003 Bankruptcy...

Also went back to the 1790 Census and found my grandfathers fathers side also, they were in Chester SC. Real neat, man what a different way of life they must have had.
