I plan to file within the next 3 - 6 months and I have cash available to take a vacation...do I dare take a vacation or am I just asking for trouble?
Thanks,
Lefty

A normal vacation probably will not raise any eyebrows. That being said use common sense. Taking a grand tour of Europe is completely different than going on what's considered an average vacation. If it's going to be 3-6 months before you file I really don't see it being a problem.

Maybe I have already been told the answer to this...guess I forgot? I will be at work for the 4th of July weekend, so hopefully I can get a small trip in August.

This kind of speaks to the situation we're in. Each year, we take a vacation to the Caribbean with some friends, as they allow us to stay there with them for free. All we need to do is pay airfare and bring food with us. We plan these well in advance, the tickets were bought months ago, but the actual trip will probably be taking place sometime around the time we actually file, depending on when we do file. I wonder if this will cause any issues. I'll mention it to the lawyer and see what he says.

I doubt this is any problem. If the tickets were purchased months ago, they're likely nonrefundable anyway.
Honestly, the cost of a normal vacation vs the amount of debt most of us discharged {or are in the process of discharging} would not make a dent in what we owe creditors.
Me, I filed on $71K worth of cc. A week at the beach would not have made a bit of difference in my ability to repay.
