I having problems obtaining copies of credit bureau reports and I will have a problem with the filing fee if I decide to claim bankruptcy. Can I file a petition and recieve assistance to obtain information about the debts? They are requiring me to send fees, even after being denied credit, employment, etc.

I am not sure if I understand your question but you can get all your credit reports for $30.00 if you go to any credit place online ie Free credit report .com, I don't know if you can afford that but thats how I got mine and you can view it for 30 days, as far as filing an ammendment, if you havent given your attorneys any money yet then nothing has been started on your bankruptcy (if that is what you mean) They will not do anything until you pay them. And I don't think you can get financial aid anywhere for bankruptcy, you just have to tuff it out.. I don't understand it either, we file bankruptcy for a reason and they think that you can turn around and pay all these fees and everything, if we could pay the fees we wouldn't be filing..
Don't know if that was any help but good luck :)

As I read and see it, Bankruptcy is used to relieve stress and distress of debtors with their debts. "Distress and/or stress" is subject to the individual's interpretation. We live in a society that liens, repossesses, commits and incarcerates for debts owed- Fees for bankruptcy? I'm not understanding a tough it out approach.

you can obtain a free copy of your credit report from each bureau for free. Just state that you were recently declined credit. Some states also allow people to obtain free copy of thier credit report each year.

Good Luck! :)

There isn't a Bankruptcy Discharge number, per se, there is simply an order of discharge. You would have to contact the clerk of the BK court in which you filed to obtain a copy.

Seems I heard on NPR (radio) that the Big 3 will be rolling out by region credit reports this year in compliance with changing Federal credit reporting laws. I just remember hearing the story about how so many errors are (it was like 1 in 7 have errors) documented that congress passed some law and as a result the Big 3 now have to allow the individual a first pass/right to correct/challenge anything. If anyone else heard same post something.

If you are in the west or midwest region you can get a free report annually from each bureau.

By Sept 2005 all states will be able to get the free report. That is when the eastern states become available. You can look at the website listed above to find out when your state is eligible for a free report.
