I just passed 90 Days of using no credit and no payments to creditors. Our last credit card charge was exactly 90 Days ago today! Only 5 days to go until the last cash advance, due to an overdraft, passes the 70 Day mark.
Living cash-only for this period of time has been helpful. Among the things I've learned is how tight our budget really is. I really expected to have extra money to get rid of on necessary expenses but that hasn't really been the case -- things are tight. I still haven't saved a penny to pay an attorney but I'm still optimistic.
This mode of living is difficult right now because the pending bankruptcy makes it necessary for us to have no savings whatsoever. It's kind of a fragile situation to be in because credit is off limits and savings is prohibited. This has to be the most difficult time, right?
The thing that's bothering me right now is taxes. Early next year we'll owe $2,400 in property taxes. I really need to be saving now to make that payment but I can't. How does that work? If I have too much saved, it won't matter that it's earmarked for Taxes -- they'll take the money. If I file between now and the beginning of next year with nothing saved, we'll have nothing to pay Taxes with.
Just because everyone else in the world has taxes in escarow as a part of their mortgage payment, why should I be having this problem because mine isn't.
