LOL! Took my Credit Counseling course the other night

Wow! What a waste of $50. I took the course online with freshstartonline.org. Blasted through some reading with questions because I already knew the answers, did a budget so it could tell me to seek an attorney about filing bankruptcy (duh!) and then we both had to call in to say hello. They said thank you, confirmed the email adrees of our attorney, and goodbye. No counseling over the phone or anything else.

Look at it this way: if it was something you had to get done to file, atleast you got it over with.

boy mine was a little more complicated......used greenpath ......my attys service....first course was on phone for 1 hour answering questions....got certificate emailed same night...
second course had to read 100 page workbook and take online test.....than had to call and get results of test and spent 90 min on phone with lady.....got certificate same night.....
easiest courses in the world......yeah it is a waste of money but you have to have it to get the discharge in the end.....well worth the trade off.....glad you got it done!!!! don't forget
the debtor education course as some people have actually done.....easy too......good luck...

I felt the same way. I just took mine with hummingbird and it sounds the same as you. The online portion took me about 20 minutes and the phone call was less then 5 minutes. I thought it was a huge waste of money, personally. Just another way to make money off someone who's already broke!

Mine was included in my attorney fee's and I did mine at freshstartonline too. It was BORING! I told my attorney that for my after filing one that I have to take, I am doing the Dave Ramsey course. It is only $25.00 and at least I will get something out of it. I LOVE Dave Ramsey

I am not familiar with Ramsey but based on others' reviews I told my attorney the same thing; he said no problem.

Our attorney's choice was cricketdebt.com so we did that, and the worst part was listing all the debts and interest rates and minimum payments. That took about an hour because their web page kept not accepting some listings causing us to have to do them over. Then we had to read about 15-20 web pages, but we paid attention, thinking we were going to get asked questions about it. So all in all it took well over an hour.

Then, we had to call in to speak with them, and there were basically no questions at all other than "Did you understand what you read?" and "Do you understand how you got in so much debt?" Duh!

So I would advise anyone taking it through cricketdebt.com ($35/couple) to just zip through the reading, and on the debts and interest rates, just estimate, don't go look each one up because IT DOESN'T MATTER! Just zip through it and you can probably be done in half an hour.
