    BOA switched card number

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether this will have an impact on our filing Chapter 7 in the very near future. Bank of America recently sent us a letter saying that there was a possible credit breach on several members' accounts -- I can't recall the exact wording -- and they were cancelling our account number and issuing us a new account number and new cards. I just find this very suspicious considering we stopped charging in September, almost as if they know we're considering BK.

My question is, would this have an impact at all on our BK? Will it look like a new account? They listed a "transfer from account#1234" on our statement. Obviously, this is not a balance transfer or anything like that. They issued us the new card and new account number.

Just wondering if anyone thinks there may be an issue with this.

just hang on to the letter that BoA sent you and give it to your lawyer. BoA doesn't have any idea that you are filing for BK. I'd just make sure that you list BOTH account numbers on your BK petition. It's a pretty simple thing to do.

Keep a paper trail of everything they send you pertaining to the new and old account. Then check your credit report right before you file to make sure the old account is closed or $0 balance and the new account number is showing your true balance. Or, call them and verify which card the balance is attached to. Either way, your most current statement should identify CC number and balance. You want to ensure that the correct card number with the balance is what's in your filing. As long as you have the paper trail I don't see how it could be a problem.

Thanks. I will keep a paper trail of their letters. I admit, I'm getting a tad paranoid. I often go from this site straight to BOA and from BOA to here. I wondered if they were tracking IP addresses of sites BOA customers are coming from and/or going to.
