We have been trying to refinance our house for a year - trustee would not allow it because we had not been in the plan for 36 months. OK - June 5 makes our 36th payment. On June 6..we are paying off the plan with a loan from my parents instead of doing this with the equity and having to get approval from the trustee. This was at the insistence of our attorney - with all the problems we've had with the trustee - our attorney stated that it would be a red flag and open can of worms to submit the motion to incur debt. OK - so when we pay of the 13..and then close on our refinance within 10 days - what will our credit report show about the 13? Do we need to do anything to make sure our credit report is correct? Has anyone else done anything similar? Did any creditors try to collect after the fact? Our credit report has lots of companies on it that don't say in the BK - these seem to be collection companies that bought the debt..so the original creditor is in the BK..but the company that bought the debt isn't. Also..some say "possible duplicate account". Do I need to worry about this? It just seems like we need to do something else to get out of this nightmare and I'm so afraid that - even after we pay it off- it won't be over. Any suggestions/advise for after the pay-off?

You need to pull a credit report right now and get it all straightened out. Any and all accounts included in your BK should say "included in BK or Chapter 13".
IF NOT - you need to sit down, write letters to creditors (even collection agencies), include copy of discharge papers, and send certified to creditors who have not reported to the agencies.
Give them approx 3 weeks to correct the problem, then contact them again.
It is against the law for a creditor to report anything else other than "included in BK or Chapter 13". If they fail to respond remind them they can be liable for not reporting correctly.
Keep a close eye on your credit report, make sure its curren and correct. Everything else should start falling in place again.
Good luck
