    chptr 7 and collection agencies

I was wondering if chapter 7 bk gets rid of collection agencies. I know that they still report on your credit (since it was already sent to collections before I filed), but are they allowed to put a balance or do they just put $0 and note that it is included in bankruptcy on a credit report?

My understanding is it gets rid of the debt, so it will be listed as IIB and $0, but the history prior to the BK will remain.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Last I looked at my credit report, the original creditors were listed but no collection agencies. In other words, for instance, my Home Depot account showed, with all pertinent info, but there was no entry for the collection agency that handled that account. ?? Most all of my accounts were in collection but no agencies were shown on my reports. Are yours different?

        Under collections it has:

        Collection agency [?] xxxxxxx
        Original balance [?]xxx
Current balance (as of Jan 01,2007) [?] xxxx
Status (as of Jan 01, 2007) [?] Unpaid
        Date assigned [?] Feb 01, 2006
        Date reported [?] Jan 01, 2007
        Date last active [?] Apr 01, 2004
Original lender [?] Not on Record
        Account number [?] XXXXXXxxxx
        Account holder [?] Individual

This is just one of a few small medical bills that I owe. I figured that the amount should show $0 and that status would say "IIB" but it doesn't. None of them do. I have three of them all from the same hospital (with different balance/account info)
On another credit report it states that this collection account is through SCSI. (State Collection Services, Inc - I'm assuming) I've called the hospital (OC) and they state they have no info on me.
