    Case transferred

I just found out that my Chapter 13 case has been transferred to a successor trustee. I just made payment number 42 out of 60, so I am about a year and a half away from completing my plan. I just wanted to know if anyone else has ever had their case transferred to a different trustee during the term of their plan and if there are any possible situations that my wife and I may have to be ready for. My wife and I are tempted to voluntarily dismiss our case and this seems like a good spot for it to happen. I know we've come this far and the end is in sight, but it is still tempting. The main reason we are staying in the plan is we have a vehicle that is being paid through the plan and the finance company, Americredit, has told us that if we dismiss they want close to $10K in back payments and interest within 10 days of when the case is dismissed or they will come get our van. It's only worth about $4K and they don't seem very willing to negotiate with us to let us pay it off over a short amount of time. Everything else we are paying now is student loans and some unsecured debt that I think we could take care of on our own. I hope these last 18 months go fast.

Could be your Trustee retired from service. Or cannot complete their duties for whatever reason.

The transfer of your case from one Trustee to another really should have no impact on you. Just keep plugging along, making those payments, and most likely the Trustee will never bother with you.

Keep in mind,............. Having a BK on your Credit is a negative all on it's own. Having a Dismissed BK on your Credit is MUCH, MUCH worse.
