Ok, we had our 341 meeting yesterday. Trustee said he'd recommend it for confirmation, yeah. We had a trailblazer that we were severly upside down on and we surrendered it after filing. 2 weeks before filing we went and purchased a new vehicle with better gas mileage and a lower payment, that we knew would make it through the life of the plan. No questions were raised about this. He did question the motorcylce we have and asked if it was necessary, but we just reminded him that it's in our name but my parents pay it and that the monthly payment from them for it was included in our schedules. He said ok. Since we filed chapter 13 in 2002 and converted to 7 in 2005 he did ask, if we felt we'd be able to make these plan payments (pretty steep). We said yes. I just am really hoping for this new start and I really have learned my lesson this time! Before filing my husband and I were at each other's throat fighting all the time about expenses, hopefully things get better now for our marriage and our children's sake (I'm sure they will).

Yay! Welcome to the day to day life of a Chapter 13er.
Consider your payment to the trustee just another bill that must be paid just like you must breathe. That's what helped me through my 13. I wish you much much luck!
Chapter 13 Filed "Old Law"
Filed: 6/2003 Confirmed: 3/2004
Early pay off sent: 10/05/2007 - 9 months early

What helps me through my Chapter 13 is that I look at the trustee's payment as a payment for a consolidation loan. Just like any other loan, when I have made all of the payments, then I am done. Instead of my loan contract being mailed to me stamped paid in full, I will have my discharge papers.Originally posted by chpxiii View PostYay! Welcome to the day to day life of a Chapter 13er.

Think about how long it would take to pay off credit cards when making only the minimum payments, it would take 30 years! I see no way out of this credit card hole I have gotten myself into so it will be truly a fresh start and I will be free from the dreaded credit card trap I am in now!
Today is the day I file ch. 13 so hopefully only 40 months until I am free!

This is exactly how I look at it. Our payment is slightly higher than our car payment was (we crammed it down), so in our minds, it's a *loan payment*, albeit a very high priority loan payment ;)Originally posted by $$only4ever View PostWhat helps me through my Chapter 13 is that I look at the trustee's payment as a payment for a consolidation loan. I'm also with the loan payment idea as well. Because we *are* paying back on our loans! (even though it may have been crammed down, or not at 100% or whatever, we *are* paying monies back.)Originally posted by qwertysue View PostThis is exactly how I look at it. One other thing that I used to think was that I didn't have to worry about how much to send to who. I sent one payment to one person and HE got to worry about who got what. At that time of my life I really needed the relief of having someone else taking care of some things in my life. All I had to do was keep on top of making sure the trustee actually did make the payments.Chapter 13 Filed "Old Law"

And it's nice to have a sense of closure...now we can actually budget ahead of time instead of scrambling trying to figure out who to pay what and when. The credit collection dance is over!Filed 07/07, $120k unsecured debt
