    No objections yet.

My 'objection to discharge' deadline is next week. If there are no objections before this date am I safe with a Chapter 7? Is that good news? Also I have a deadline next year for Government proof of claim what is that about?

No objections is a good thing and your case should be discharge without any issues.

Not sure what the Government proof thingy is. Sorry.

I believe the "govt. proof of claim" is for any tax liens, etc that the federal/state may be holding against you. That gives them 6 months to file proof of claim with the Trustee......

Don't get excited, it's happened that someone might object right at the last minute.... but normally doesn't.....

So get excited about getting close, but don't jump the gun.....

Looks like you will be okay in the long run....

Well, there is NO one at the court since Wednesday (i.e. holiday) so nothing is going to happen.

As for the Govt issue...the IRS and other government entities are given 6 months to file a proof of claim in an asset case. But the proof of claim has nothing to do with objection to discharge. Also, keep in mind, certain debts are non-dischargeable (i.e. IRS Tax Liens and taxes due in the last 3 years) and those debts need not file an objection to demonstrate non-dischargeability.
