Is filing BK the only reason for signing up for a Pacer account?

If not, what are other reasons people sign up for it?

    #2
Yes, for the average person, the only reason to have a PACER account is if you file BK.

The user interface is not really suitable for any other purpose.

Check with your BK clerk office if you are close. At my local office, the clerk will log you into PACER on their account and it won't cost you anything.

Any law firm that practices in the federal court system will have a Pacer account. For ordinary folks, BK is usually the only reason to sign up.

To specifically answer original question, the Pacer account will let you look at any public record related to a FEDERAL court case. May want to keep your login info in case you someday want to do research with it. I've had a few uses for it and like being able to pull cases up from around the country without much hassle.
