Question re: Credit Card debts

If soemone buys your account, such as Jo Blow buys your Chase CC Debt, do you still owe that debt, the same as if it were still in the hands of Chase??? I was told no as you did not purchase from Joe Blow??? Anyone know the answer to this question.

As it pretains to bk, all you need do is list the orginal creditor and the debt is discharged regardless if a collection agency owns it or not.
Just to be sure everyone is notified, list the debt collector as a creditor as well.

Yes, you still owe it. The only way to completely be done with it is to have it discharged via BK or pay it. Debt doesn't vanish simply by not paying it. If that was the case people wouldn't bother filing bankruptcy, they'd just wait it out until the debt changed hands. Unfortunately, that isn't the case.

Jo Blow will take it to the courts and sue you. Unless you're someone that is judgement proof you'll end up paying the debt one way or another.
