WARNING FOLKS,
As the cold weather hits us, many need to be reminded of the dangers of using kerosene heaters, fireplaces, and space heaters........
Last nite one of the girls I work with her mothers new home burnt to the ground because of a kerosene heater.
Her cousin (a grown man) was using a kerosene heater in the garage, went to fill it while it was hot, and it exploded. Fire spread thru out the house rapidly and it being in the country it burned down before volunteer fireman could get there.
Fortunately, no on died but the man was burned extremely bad and flown to UK hospital in critical condition. Her mother was asleep and the man run inside to get her out even though he was burnt up.....
I heard all the sirens as they went past our subdivision BUT NEVER DREAMED it was someone that I might know. I thought there had been a wreck on the Interstate.
SO FOLKS, if you use kerosene heaters, make sure the person using them KNOWS WHAT THEIR DOING..... NEVER REFILL a kerosene heater and it hot. NEVER put a space heater in a child's room where a toy or something can get thrown against it..... NEVER leave a fireplace unattended or open at night after you go to bed (sparks do fly).....
