How Fast Do Credit Unions Come After You?

If you have paid your attorney a retainer, I would absolutely call the credit union and give them the attorney's contact information.

I wouldn't discuss your account with the credit union rep at all--just politely tell them that they will have to contact your attorney for any information they need.

Actually, since they sent you a letter I would respond in writing. Just say something like "I have retained counsel. Therefore, please contact my attorney regarding this matter" and then provide the attorney's name, phone number and address.

I wouldn't say ANYTHING else in the letter. You are represented by counsel--that's all the credit union needs to know. If they call you on the phone, tell them the exact same thing. Your attorney's contact information and nothing else. "I'm sorry, you'll have to discuss that with my attorney."

          Good luck.

Whatever your ultimate decision is - first and foremost close your checking/savings account that you have with the credit union, or reduce the amounts to $5 each, and open an account at a different bank.
