Do creditors receive payments before confirmation?

If some cases take a year to be confirmed do the creditors get paid while the plan is being hashed out and then finally confirmed? What happens to secured creditors that are paid through the plan can they repo my vehicle if the trustee does not make the payments until confirmation?

Once the automatic stay is in effect, i.e., at the time of filing (but before confirmation), creditors CANNOT repo your car, call you etc. The automatic stay is your friend and protects you from the creditors!

ETA: As to whether or not they get paid before confirmation--I think that varies by trustee. My trustee pays out every month and has since my case was first filed, but I have read here many times of trustees who pay out every few months or longer.

Our trustee held all of our money until the plan was confirmed. We built up to over $14,000 before it was confirmed. Once we confirmed, the very next month she paid out ever cent that was in the account to secured creditors. After that she made payments every month until the plan ended.

Thanks for your responses. I feel a little better about my car loan not getting paid.
