Does child support have to be included in the Chapter 13 or can it be paid outside the plan? Thanks to everyone in the forum for all the help!

I am sure that you can continue to pay it outside of your plan. It is an allowable expense. Only your arrears would be included in the plan, if you are behind. -
I'm in NYS and we pay our child support outside the plan. It was not a problem to do so. That was one thing we had concerns about, namely the ex finding out about the Chapter 13. It's a pretty hefty amount but it's one of the first bills that get paid each month!Comment
