What happens to our income tax? Does the trustee get it? Do we keep up to a certain amount?

Hi there, My trustee in near Orlando and they told us at the class we had to take just after we filed that we could call them with a request to use the tax refund and they would consider letting us keep it. If you need the money for a needed car or home repair or medical issue they may OK that. Good luck to you.

I think it depends on the state and the trustee. I am in Virginia and my attorney said that I can keep the refund.

In Florida my trustee sends a letter that says DO NOT cash your refund that you must sign it over to them. You have to do this even if you request the money and they will send it back to you if they OK it. I would make sure to play by their rules so you stay under their radar if you know what I mean.
