yes--I've read this in more than 1 place, but was hesitant to believe it, thought it was just internet gossip.
While I have nothing to hide, LOL cuz I have just about nothing left!!!!
However-- it does make me feel good knowing there may be less of a chance of an audit...Just the word "audit' terrifies me--because when I was a child, my grandmother was audited by the IRS-it was a randomly chosen audit-she did nothing wrong but they dug into her life like crazy--even coming to the house--I remember sitting in the livingroom with her while the IRS people were going over stuff. I didn't really understand 'what' was going on--but I felt my grandmother's FEAR and frustration that these people had a right to question and see for themselves--they were trying really really hard to find some type of fraud or something. In the end--they found no fraud of course--but 9 or so months later, my grandmother did make a mathematical error, and accidentally paid tax twice in her fear of doing something wrong!--However, these people were not so energetic to help her with that...
I doubt that there's "no money" for audits--there needs to be $$ in place to investigate suspected fraud--what I was thinking is that maybe the funds to pay for random unnecessitated audits haven't been given.--
I would like to know more though. It seems strange with BK levels what they are that funding is lost.
