Topic 203 - Failure to Pay Child Support, Federal NonTax and State Income Tax Obliga

That is what it's showing under the info for the status of my federal refund.

But it also says that my refund was mailed out on February 22. Does this mean it was sent to my trustee and he will review it?

It's only $750 and If I have to give it all to him so be it. I'm just curious.

I did change my withholdings so I don't end up getting a refund next year.

Wouldn't it go to your child's mother? I know they keep refunds for that too.

I don't have any children and I don't owe the IRS or anybody else money, at least not that I know of

So I can only guess that this is because of the chapter 13.

Topic 203 - Failure to Pay Child Support, Federal Non–Tax and State Income Tax Obligations

The Department of Treasury's Financial Management Service (FMS), which issues IRS tax refunds, has been authorized by Congress to conduct the Treasury Offset Program. Through this program, your refund or overpayment may be reduced by FMS and offset to pay any past–due child support, Federal agency non–tax debts, or state income tax obligations.

You can contact the agency with which you have a debt, to determine if your debt was submitted for a tax refund offset. If your debt was submitted for offset, FMS will take as much of your refund as is needed to pay off the debt and send it to the agency you owe. Any portion of your refund remaining after offset will be issued in a check to you or direct deposited for you.

FMS will send you a notice if an offset occurs. The notice will reflect the original refund amount, your offset amount, the agency receiving the payment, and the address and telephone number of the agency. FMS will notify the IRS of the amount taken from your refund. Contact the agency shown on the notice if you believe you do not owe the debt or you are disputing the amount taken from your refund. Contact the IRS only if your original refund amount shown on the FMS offset notice differs from the refund amount shown on your tax return.

Does anyone know what happens when they ask if you have any financial obligations such as child support? I am in arrears with child support payments, only because I couldn't afford to pay my ex. We are in agreement that once I get back on my feet again that the payments will resume. It was a messy divorce and we really do not get along, but we have mutually agreed to me catching up on the payments soon after filing the CH7 and me going back to work soon.

Will they contact him? We have 2 children together 17 and 11. With my second husband we have 3 small children ages 4, 2 and 9 months old, I stay at home with them and my husband is the only bread winner.

Any ideas? Or how does that work when you say that you have financial obligations. I really don't want him to know I am filing bankruptcy because it's just another thing he will use against me since I am trying to get my 11 year old to live with us (the 17 year old will be going to college).

Hope to get some answers! Thanks!

I would be on the phone with the IRS to find out why this particular message is showing up for you. If you have NO children and DON"T owe child support then I think the IRS messed your ss number up with someone else. I would be finding out asap. The IRS will talk to you if you don't mind holding for an hour or so.
