Bank statements in a federal exempt ch 7

We're filing federal exempt and so far our attorney said that they'll only need the bankstatement for the day we filed. Our tax return is going to be exempted because it's federal, but our attorney wants us to keep receipts of anything over $400.00 not sure why since they'll have the statements anyway, but I'm wondering if anyone has had to provide banks statements for AFTER your filing date? Say if I file March 1st, but my 341 hearing isn't until March 29th, would they ask for bankstatements for in between that time?

We need a couch and TV (as we've gone with neither for about 3 mos now), that's why I'm asking. We're buying used, but still, I'm not sure if that's considered a luxury item? We also thought about taking the kids to a fun place for the day (like a water park or something), but that may be considered luxury??

This might sound crazy, but.....what does "federal exempt" c7 mean? Are you a gov. employee?

Federal exemption is what I'm filing under because we weren't in any two states long enough to take their exemptions. From what I understand, it's a broader exemption...something like that, my attorney has completely failed to completely explain that to me. And CH 7 is just abbreviated for chapter 7.
