Well it doesn't take long for the c.c companies to find out ya filed

What I find strange is that every one of my 8 credit card companies were notified of my BK through snail mail. I thought they would be notified electronically, but they weren't, at least not in my case.

I filed on Monday (25th) and by Thursday Chase, BOA, Sears and Amex had closed my accounts.

I'm sure the others (Citi, Capital One, Wamu State Farm) aren't too far behind.

Edited to say that Citi, Capital One and WAMU closed my accounts today (Friday the 29th).

No. I wish I could keep one of my prime accounts for use after the Bk is over with, but I know that I will be blacklisted from all of them. I don't blame them for that of course as they lost money, but I want an account to rebuild my credit with after it is all said and done.

Do ALL your creditors get notified? Or is it just the ones you listed in the BK? I have an AmEx with a $500 limit and a Chevron Card I'd like to keep.

I am sure these CC companies have some sort of pacer slert system that triggers on your SS number.

Hi. You don't have to list a creditor if there is no debt with them. Say you are filing Bk and you have balances with Amex, Citi, BOA, but you have a Capital One card with a zero balance, you do not have to list them.

However when they do their monthly soft pull on your credit report 9 times out of 10 they will close the account when they see the BK on your credit report.
