I am an artist and I sell my paintings through a gallery every now and then. It is not a substantial amount of income. Can they sieze any unsold work to pay off creditors for chapter 7?

Conceivably the trustee could. It would be no different that if a retail store filed BK and the trustee liquidated inventory.
However, your circumstance is a new one to me, how many paintings are we talking about and have you ever declared the income you made from these paintings on your taxes (i.e. how much of a paper trail is there regarding your painting sales).

I receive a 1099 from the gallery but my inventory of unsold work is not that large. The gallery has some of it. Can they take it from them even though they own the gallery not me?Originally posted by HHMConceivably the trustee could.
