There is only one creditor currently listed in my register. I assume at this point only secured creditors are making themselves known. What happens if a secured creditor fails to 'register'?

Is your case an asset case or not.
Generally speaking, in a no-asset chapter 7 case, the claims register should be empty. -

I wouldn't worry about the claims register. Your in a chapter 7, what claims get filed in your case of little to no concern of yours.(regardless if you are asset or not)Comment
