I am about to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy on my own, but I have several questions:
I have a storage unit in another state that I owe about $1500 in back rent on. I hadn't moved it because they are charging me $4,000.00 to move my things 900 miles, and I just didn't have that kind of money. What will happen if I file? Will I lose my belongings? I DO NOT want to lose them.
I recently purchased a car for people with bad credit. I would like to keep the car, but it shuts off if the payment is more than five days late. Should I continue to make the payments even though I am in bankruptcy? How can I keep the car?
Finally, I am facing eviction from my apartment this week, though the office I think is being a little nice and haven't filed the dispossesory warrant yet, because in my state it is a very quick process, and once they file the warrant, the court date will be in 7 days. I know the Chapter 7 will give me an automatic stay, but can they still force me to move out? How will I find another apartment? How much time will I have to move? What about the lease that I am in? My lease is up Sept 5, but I haven't given them 60 days notice to let them know I will be moving out. (Though I'm being evicted).
